Four great days in Copenhagen, report by Lisanne Wetemans (V3D)

Day 0&1

It’s Sunday, 07:30 PM, the moment we should be at school to gather for our trip to Copenhagen. Of course I’m still at home, but I wasn’t the last who arrived.

At school, we said goodbye to our parents, hugged crying sisters.

And we made it. The four teachers, Sascha Engbersen, Matt Verstappen, Martin Waals, Kurt op ‘t Eynde & the 2 classes V3D and H3D, got in the bus. All of them.

08:00 PM we left, and this was the start of the 12-hours lasting bus trip.

Personally, I loved the bus. It got plenty of space which caused me to have 4 chairs for me and my pillow, so it was me who fell asleep at half past nine.

The rest of the bus enjoyed some movies, or each other. At least, this is what I heard afterwards, because I was sleeping.

Around midnight we had a stop somewhere in Germany. After the stop, more people went to sleep, including the teachers. By the way; they are very cute when they’re sleeping!

Some hours later, we had to get off the bus because we had to go on the boat.

Half past six we arrived in Copenhagen. This was not the plan, because what can you do in Copenhagen so early in the morning?

Well, we brought Martin with us. Martin, the genius game inventor.

I’m serious.

Our first game would last for the whole trip; it was a game where we had to assassinate each other. Which I thought was fun, if there wouldn’t have been so many alliances.

We had a kind of stuff hunt game as well. By doing those games, and by a bit of free time we got, we passed our extra time and started our ‘real’ programme. The students organised the ‘real’ programme by themselves, with a little help of the teachers now and then.

We headed towards the boat tour, which was really nice and we saw a lot of the city. It was too bad we almost froze but I think it was worth it.

Afterwards, we visited a tower. One without normal stairs or an elevator, which made the climb disastrous. But when we finally reached the top, the sight was beautiful. Again, it was worth it.

We ate a sandwich at the nearby Subway-look-a-like ‘Sunset’. Completely satisfied we started a picturequiztour, made by Romy and Sofie.

While walking, we walked through a park and because the weather was so nice; we just stayed there and relaxed.

We were back at the hostel in time, and went to our rooms. After half an hour it was already a complete mess, but what do you expect with 8 girls in one room?

The group had to split up for dinner; there wasn’t enough space in one restaurant for us all.

After the dinner we met somewhere at a square and went swimming! The only weird thing about this were the habits of the Danish people. But I’m glad everyone could handle naked Danish people, that’s all I’ll say about it.

Back at the hostel, everyone was exhausted, and could sleep really well.

Day 2

After a very busy breakfast we started with the Experimentarium, which is comparable to Nemo. It’s a museum where you can do lots of experiments.

When we arrived, there was a red carpet and guards.

Her Royal Highness had arrived. What a coincidence.

I wanted to make a picture of her, and she was actually walking at a distance of 2 metres, but I was so stupid to not recognise her.

Back to the museum itself; the experiments were really funny! Especially some teachers had a great time!

When we were finished with the experiments, we had lunch in the basement, and we headed towards the Akvarium (Aquarium).

Everyone enjoyed watching fish, but at a certain moment, we were also happy to go to the beach which was 200 metres away.

We ate at Domino’s! Well, I should say, we ate next to Domino’s. We shared pizza’s while we sat on the ground. (so when you talk about low budget trips..)

The bus came and we all had to rush inside, but we should always ‘watch out, cyclists!’ It was time for our dropping, which was made by Ward & Stef.

I must say, it was really fun! This was due to my group, and while it included both Ward & Stef, we arrived the latest.

Day 3

We started the Wednesday by visiting the Klampenborg park. Here we played real-life Stratego, between the deers which were just walking around. Some managed to make pictures, others were only busy finding the flag.

We had lunch at a beach, just before we went kayaking. It was cold and windy, so I feared the temperature of the water. Fortunately, we got a wetsuit, a lifejacket, an extra jacket and shoes. But still, you felt like freezing when your boat tripped over.

The teachers really enjoyed that. So it was wise to stay away from them, but you could trip them over as well.

I made a deal with Mrs Engbersen, but at a certain moment, it was me who made sure she fell in the water. (I’m still sorry for breaking our deal!)

Because of my action, Martin took revenge, 2 times, while only 1 succeeded. I must say that Martin was the most active in tripping over boats. (What a surprising fact)

Some people really loved the cold water. People like Leo and Stan.

Totally frozen we got hot chocolate from the bus driver (Thank you Otto!) with whipped cream. The students enjoyed the ordinary cream, while the teachers preferred Martin’s even more.

In the evening, we played 2 rounds of a game that Martin took with him. To do this, we had to rebuild half the hostel, and finally created a circle. After those rounds, everyone was tired, so we went to sleep. Well, most people went to sleep.

Day 4&0

After our last breakfast in the hostel, we had to carry our luggage a kilometre (or more!) to the bus. It was really heavy, especially for those with bags without wheels.

Almost everybody didn’t forget anything at all. I thought me neither, until we were almost at the bus and I realised my pillow was still in the lobby of the hostel.

Still, we had to go on, and we continued to the Trash Museum. Firstly, we couldn’t find it, but it was hidden behind some trash. It was really different than expected but most people used it to relax. Or to hide in containers.

By the time we left the museum, it was raining, so we took the metro to the city centre and ate frokost (lunch) at a cosy restaurant. We changed our planning and got more time for our souvenirhunt, and this was the moment people spent their money on candy, clothes, shoes, juice, and – of course - souvenirs.

We ate at Streckers, where we could enjoy a (Dutch!) soccer match with a hamburger or fish. When we were finished, it was time to go back to the hostel (where I found my pillow back!).

The bus was waiting, and at 07:30 PM we had to say goodbye to Copenhagen.

After a long time of watching movies, sleeping (next to Mr Verstappen), eating candy and talking, we arrived at quarter pas six at school.

We had a great time!
