On Thursday 26 January eight contestants from V2D, H3E and V3D tried to impress a jury, consisting of Aniek van Kimmenade (V6), Heidi van Rooijen and Bart van de Berg, with their four-minute speech about this year’s subject ‘the future’ during a two hour school round presented by Craig McMorland.

The content of the speeches varied from travelling in time, school and gadgets in the future and future religious developments to solving injustice in the future as well as philosophical ideas about living in the present and not in the future.

The two winning speeches of the 2012 school round were delivered by Silvijn Korten (V2D) and Leonardo Verkoulen (V3D). Silvijn and Leonardo will represent the Philips van Horne in the regional round on 2 February in Venlo.
