On the 25th of September we went to the primary school ‘De Uitkijktoren’ in Weert, to give a kind of English lesson. At first we introduced ourselves and told the kids why we were there and what we were going to do. After that we played 3 games, which they really enjoyed.

The games we played were:

The first game we played was Simon says. Isabel was Simon and she said things like: "Simon says: sit on the table" or "Touch the wall". We played it for about 15 minutes, and at the end we had to stop because it took too long so we had 9 winners.

The next game we played was 'who am I?' All the kids got a sticky note on their forehead and they had to ask someone else an English question that could be answered with yes or no. For example: 'Am I alive?' or 'Can you eat me?' All the kids liked the game very much and we all had a lot of fun playing it.

The last game we played was a kind of role play. The kids had to pair up and make a funny story about them being at a theme park for example. Most of them needed some help with this because they didn't know all the words. After about 10 minutes, we let some of them come in front of the class to perform the little text they made. That was really funny.

We thought it was a nice experience. The pupils of the primary school participated very well. They couldn't speak in whole sentences but that wasn't a problem, because we could easily help them to make their sentences correctly. We also asked how many pupils were thinking about doing TTO. Approximately 5 pupils put their hands up, but didn't know it for sure, because their Cito-score also influences if they are allowed to do TTO.

The teacher was very enthusiastic about our English lesson. She said it was a very nice lesson. Sometimes she had to tell the students to be silent, because they were very excited and hyperactive, but that wasn’t really a problem. At the end the students told us that they had really enjoyed our lesson.
