Solid speeches by Inge and Silvijn at Regional round JSC

Two of our very own TTO pupils took part in the Regional Round of the Junior Speaking Contest in Helmond on Wednesday, 6th February. Silvijn Korten (V3D) en Inge Haselager (V2C) did a fantastic job of speaking in front a large audience made up their peers, parents, teachers, the jury and a question panel.

Inge received a special mention from the jury, because even though her nerves let her down a bit in the middle of her speech, they thought she made a great recovery and will definitely be one to watch next year. Both our contestants spoke clearly and convincingly and overall gave very solid speeches.

The theme this year was “A World of Difference” and pupils gave their own interpretations on the subject. Inge spoke about her sister, Dolly, as the great inspiration in her life and Silvijn beguiled us with the idea that we should embrace our world which is made up of so many differences and encourage more because of our unique ability to do so.

Both Inge and Silvijn are to be complimented on their courage and talent. In my eyes they are both winners despite the fact that they didn’t make it through to the finals. We can be very proud of them and I am sure they will agree when I say that no one can take this experience away from them. It will stand them in good stead for the future and I hope that our school will continue to take part in such a worthwhile contest.

Well done!
