Students from Mönchengladbach visit weert.

On Thursday April 14th TTO students from V2e, V2f and H2e took part in a number of activities, as part of an ongoing exchange project with students from the Gymnasium an der Gartenstrasse, Mönchengladbach. In preparation for the exchange the students were required to contact local businesses, and arrange an interview with a member of staff of their chosen company. The students had to ask questions about the companies, and the influence of the E.U. over local business. Some interviews took a lot of arranging, with one group contacting more than 15 companies before receiving a positive answer.

After greeting our guests from Germany, and dividing into groups, the students left school. Most of the interviews were within walking distance, though a number of students travelled by bus to Kampershoek and Boshoven. The interviews were held at a very wide range of businesses, including the City council, Rabobank, Gotcha Cinema, De Bosuil and Moonen packaging.

After their interviews the students returned to school, where they enjoyed a very good lunch. After lunch they again split up into their groups, and went to the school library and computer rooms to continue their project. The next assignment was to make a report of their interview, in the form of a magazine article. This was made easier, as a number of students had recorded their interviews. Our guests left at 14.30, after sharing an enjoyable day with our TTO students.
